A posthumous tribute to a poet of the revolution considered one of the greatest Urdu poets of all time, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, is concerned, above all, with the experience of the individual human soul in the journey of revolutionary struggle, and with this subject he opens this third volume of Corresponding Voices.

Author of three poetry collections, Ana María Fuster Lavín is an award winning Puerto Rican writer of short stories, essays, poems and literary reviews, which have been published in Novum magazine (University of Guadalajara, Mexico) Taller Literario, Revista Interamericana, and others. In this new volume of Corresponding Voices, the poems of Ana María Fuster Lavín are featured in Writing at Syracuse University and the author of three full-length collections of poetry. His work can be their original version in her native Spanish, along with the English translations by Pedro Cuperman and Libertad Garzón.

Christopher Kennedy is the Director of the MFA Program in Creative featured in some of the most renowned literary journals and magazines in this country including The Threepenny Review, Ploughshares and McSweeney’s. He has received grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts.

A bilingual writer/educator, Tonia León has been enamored with Mexico since she was 19 years old. This love has manifested in all aspects of her life including her doctoral dissertation titled Reflections of the 17th Century Science in Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz’s Primero Sueño. In a brief conversation with the Mexican poet José Emilio Pacheco, Tonia learned that as a young child in the 1940’s he overheard conversations about WWII and the holocaust on the bus he took to school, thus the genesis of Morirás lejos.

Among Pakistan’s highly acclaimed Urdu poets, Zeeshan Sahil started writing poetry in 1977 and has produced eight collections of poetry in Urdu, including Semi-Dark Love, Karachi and Other Poems, and In the Days of War.

As with the prior two editions, Corresponding Voices, Vol.3 was edited by Pedro Cuperman, Associate Professor of Latin American Literature at Syracuse University as well as founder and since 1975, editor of Point of Contact, a publication dedicated to the exploration of the verbal and visual arts.
